SYMPOSIUM 2010
THE LUCK CONTINUES BETWEEN THE RAPHAEL ENGRAVING
Urbino 5 - 31 luglio 2010
Hanging Garden of the former Monastery of St. Clare
Our initiative involves the participation of seven artists coming from different countries invited to spend a month in our town to face an artistic challenge demanding a special dedication: to be inspired by Raffaello for their engravings. For many centuries engravers worked on Raffaello’s paintings with the purpose to spread his works. Nowadays engraving is an exclusively expressive means so it is really interesting to see how still today an artist can be influenced by Raffaello without the obligation of the reproductive accuracy.
Our guests will be helped by a technician assistant and they will take advantage of our workshops freely. The participation is free and it includes the technical help in the workshops, the cost of the consumption materials(matrix, paper ink……..) and accommodation too.
In return each student must engrave and print a graphic work in ten copies, five of them will be given to sponsors, three to KAUS and two copies for artists.
The maximum size of the matrix will be 50X 66 cm.
